World Day for Safety

International Labour Organisation has derived "Workplace Stress: A collective challenge" as a theme of the campaign of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

"Working hard for something we don't care about is called Stress;
working hard for something we love is called passion" - Simon Sinek

Stress is nothing but an ordinary reaction to the defined target. In many circumstances people are able to cope with the pressure and produce positive performance. However in some instances a person finds themselves unable to cope with the pressure that they are under which leads to negative reaction.

One of the problem with dealing with stress as an occupational health matter is that different people have different abilities to cope with pressure at work. These abilities vary massively between people and are influenced by many factors such as personality, Cultural background, lack of control over work, demands, role, support services, change, experience and education etc.,

Also, the coping abilities of an individual are not set, but vary over time. Indeed, many people find that the trigger that sets off an inability to cope with work-related stress besides this personal bereavement, separation, family ill-health and other stressors outside of work render the individual unable to deal with work pressures that they would ordinarily cope with.

Stress can have detrimental effects depends on the severity which would affect psychological, physical and behaviour of the human being. Workplace stress is a serious employment issue that eats away at profits, reduces efficiency and makes good staff hand in their notice. However the work related stress have to be controlled with adequate preventative strategies based on the causes of stress.

NIST salutes everyone who perceives their job as passion. We inculcate the knowledge of stress management through various international organisation like IOSH, NEBOSH and CIEH training and various tailor made programme including Behaviour Based Safety for corporate to promote a healthy and safe environment.
